Server and global XP levels in Tainy
Configure server experience and understand the global progression that follows you across Tainy.
There are two separate progressions
Tainy keeps two independent XP systems. Server Levels belongs to a server-and-user pair: each community chooses whether to enable it, which activities count, and which roles it rewards. Global Tainy Level belongs to your account and keeps the same progress when you move between servers. XP from one progression is never copied into the other.
Configure server levels
- Open Modules, choose a server, and enter Levels.
- Enable the module and turn on Chat XP, Voice XP, or both. Bot messages, excluded channels, and excluded roles do not award XP.
- Adjust the relaxed, standard, or hardcore curve, cooldowns, and daily caps. The initial configuration uses 10 XP per message with a 60-second cooldown and a 500 XP daily cap; voice uses 5 XP per five-minute interval and a 300 XP daily cap.
- Under Role rewards, assign a role to a level. Tainy can only grant roles below its highest role and needs Manage Roles. Stack keeps every earned reward; highest keeps only the latest one.
Voice XP is awarded only during an eligible session: the member must not be in AFK, deafened, or an excluded channel, and at least one other human must be present. The server leaderboard and progress card are available in the server configuration and through /level rank inside that server.
How the global level works
Global progress uses the standard curve. A new eligible listening event, normally started with /play, grants 15 XP, with a 60-second cooldown and a 300 music XP daily cap. Web activity also counts with limits: creating a forum thread grants 40 XP, a forum reply or playlist comment grants 15 XP, and a profile like grants 5 XP. These activities share a 15-second cooldown and a 250 web XP daily cap. Repeated events are idempotent, and historical activity is not converted into XP retroactively.
See your global bar, level, and position on your profile, open the global leaderboard, or use /profile and /level rank in Discord. The global module can be paused by Tainy's administrator; while paused, no new points are awarded, but existing history is kept. Ads, passive page views, and actions outside these documented sources do not award XP.
If a value does not change, wait for the cooldown or daily cap to reset and confirm that the activity is new. For a server issue, also check permissions, exclusions, and Tainy's highest role before changing configuration.
